A lot of Internet technology buzzwords have a common root -- "ability" -- that may seem ironic to one wave of Web surfers because of a glaring omission. People with disabilities advocate buzzword status for "accessibility," a routine concept in the world of brick-and-mortar that is still catching on online.

Guardian Monitoring

The key to keeping web sites, applications and products accessible over the long run is to continue to monitor for accessibility and make enhancements when necessary. The core work that a company does to make its assets accessible is just the beginning. Because content, applications and software delivered through web sites are dynamic in nature, it is important to closely monitor your assets and receive regular reports on any non-compliance issues, as well as visitors' perceptions of the accessibility of your site.

Guardian Accessibility Monitoring

The Paciello Group has developed the Guardian Accessibility Monitoring service to address both the need to monitor dynamic web sites and content as well as to validate new application releases and product updates. A monthly or quarterly subscription to the Guardian service allows you to monitor corporate web sites, intranets and extranets and receive a detailed report of any inaccessible areas within the sites. When applications and products undergo periodic revisions, the Paciello Group performs QA testing for the user interface before it is sent into production. This includes testing the application for accessibility utilizing the Guardian Service as well as performing usability testing in our usability-testing lab. Web sites and applications that are checked by The Paciello Group can carry the Guardian Seal of Approval and are entitled to link this to a statement of accessibility written by TPG.
